What we have built in, what we know is still outstanding, and how to tell us when something does not work for you.

Verify before publishing. The commitments below describe how this site is built. The conformance claim should be confirmed by an independent audit — including testing with real assistive technology — before it is published as a formal statement.

Our target

This site is built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. Accessibility was treated as a design constraint from the first layout rather than a pass at the end, because the second approach does not work.

What that means in practice

Keyboard. Every interactive element — navigation, the pest explorer, the identification tool, the map markers, the carousel and every form control — is reachable and operable with a keyboard alone. Focus is always visible, using a single high-contrast treatment across the whole site.
Structure. Semantic landmarks, one h1 per page and a heading hierarchy that does not skip levels. A “skip to main content” link is the first thing in the tab order.
Forms. Every control has a visible label. Errors are announced, described in text, tied to their field, and summarised at the top of the form with links to what needs fixing. Nothing is communicated by colour alone.
Contrast. Text and interface elements meet or exceed the AA contrast ratios, in both the light and dark sections of the site.
Touch targets. Interactive controls are at least 44 by 44 CSS pixels, which is above the WCAG 2.2 minimum.
Status messages. Filter results, search results, form submission states and carousel changes are announced to screen readers without moving focus.

Motion

This site uses animation deliberately, and it can all be switched off.

If your operating system requests reduced motion, we honour it automatically. Parallax stops, cursor-following effects are removed, decorative loops are hidden, and complex transitions become immediate state changes.
There is also a Reduce motion toggle in the footer of every page, so you can override the setting for this site alone. Your choice is stored in your own browser.
The customer-stories carousel can be paused, and it never auto-advances when reduced motion is active. It also pauses on hover and on focus.
No content is conveyed by motion alone, and nothing on the site flashes.

Scrolling

We do not hijack scrolling. The page scrolls at the speed your browser scrolls, the scrollbar reflects the real position of the page, and browser find-in-page works everywhere. Smooth scrolling is applied only on large pointer-based screens, is skipped on touch devices entirely, and is switched off with reduced motion.

Known limitations

The stylised service-area map is a decorative panel with accessible markers over it. It is not a substitute for the city list, which carries the same information as text and links.
Photographs are not yet in place across the site. Every image added before launch needs meaningful alternative text — or an explicit empty alt where the image is purely decorative.
The identification tool gives guidance, not a diagnosis. That limitation is stated on the result screen rather than in fine print.
