Giant house spiders, hobo spiders and cellar spiders — mostly harmless, consistently unwelcome.
Peak months: August, September, October.
Physical removal of webs and egg sacs from eaves, corners and window wells — the fastest visible improvement.
Spiders follow insects. We treat the flying and crawling insects around lighting and entryways that keep the population fed.
Treatment focused on the cracks, vents and stored-material zones where spiders shelter, rather than blanket interior spraying.
None of this replaces treatment, but all of it makes treatment hold longer. Most of it costs nothing.
Current research does not support hobo spiders causing necrotic bites, and the CDC removed that claim years ago. Positive identification requires magnification — if a spider concerns you, we would rather look at it than guess.
It is mating season, not weather. Males that have lived outdoors all year start moving in search of females, and some of that searching happens across your living-room floor.
